Forming union for Silk Road states help further ties - Iran Envoy

Beijing, Aug 14, IRNA – Iran’s Ambassador to China Mehdi Safari said here on Saturday that creating a union for the countries on the way of the Silk Road will help promote cooperation between them.
In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Safari said Iran and China will play key role in expansion of cooperation between the countries on the Silk Road path.
Safari further said Tehran and Beijing share cordial relations in political, cultural, and economic fields.
On Iran’s peaceful nuclear issue, Safari said both Iranian and Chinese officials in various meetings have reached agreement on the issue that Iran’s nuclear program has peaceful and non-military purposes.
The Iranian envoy added that the reports on this issue by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirm the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear activities as well.
About the West and the US sanctions on Iran, Safari said the Islamic Republic of Iran is not concerned about those restrictions.
The Silk Road is an extensive interconnected network of trade routes across the Asian continent connecting East, South, and Western Asia with the Mediterranean world, as well as North and Northeast Africa and Europe./end
