First leader of independent Kyrgyzstan stripped of immunity, ex-president status.

BISHKEK, August 13 (Itar-Tass) -- Askar Akayev, the first president of independent Kyrgyzstan, was stripped of immunity on Friday. Kyrgyz
President Rosa Otunbayeva signed an ordinance to that effect, the interim government press office said.

"Askar Akayev committed a grave crime as he permitted to use firearms
against civilians, handed over Kyrgyz lands to China and Kazakhstan,
destroyed national treasures and usurped power through the so-called
referenda," the ordinance runs.
Akayev was also denied the ex-president status, the Kyrgyz news agency
24.kg said.
The Kyrgyz Prosecutor General's Office was ordered to put Akayev to
justice and to ensure his extradition to Kyrgyzstan.
