Rosselkhoznadzor restricts meat imports from USA, China.

MOSCOW, August 13 (Itar-Tass) - Russia's Rosselkhoznadzor agricultural watchdog imposes temporary restrictions on imports of meat from some enterprises in the USA and China, an instruction of the deputy head of the Federal Service on Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, Alexei Saurin, said on Friday.

The instruction posted on the web site of Rosselkhoznadzor said that
as banned harmful substances had been found in meat from the USA and
China, temporary restrictions are imposed on certain enterprises starting
from August 27. The instruction mentioned pork from two enterprises of
Farmland Food (the USA) and rabbit meat from one enterprise in China.
If the shipment began before August 27, 2010, the decision on imports
is made in a routine regime with a compulsory laboratory control,
Rosselkhoznadzor's sources specified.
The agricultural watchdog also tightens control over beef and horse
meat from certain enterprises in Australia and pork from some Canadian
firms after finding an excessive amount of aerobes and optionally
anaerobic microorganisms in their products.
