Pakistan Prime Minister greets Indian Premier on winnning confidence vote

Islamabad, July 25 (PPI) - Pakistan's Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani congratulated his Indian counterpart Dr Manmohan Singh on winning vote of confidence from the parliament.

Gilani Thursday telephoned Dr Singh and said his success was success of democracy and felt such democratic norms must be encouraged in the region.

Dr. Singh said all outstanding issues including Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan would be resolved amicably, and assured his full support in this regard.

Gilani said he looked forward to meet Dr Singh in upcoming eight nation South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation SAARC Summit in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He said as a prologue to SAARC summit, their Foreign Ministers may also discuss various bilateral issues including Kashmir dispute.

Pakistan attaches immense importance to its relations with India. The present unrest in the region demands more cooperation in combating terrorism and extremism as both countries are victims of this menace, he stated.

Gilani said a stable Afghanistan is in interest of all countries in the region and urged for efforts to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan.
