Famous Chinese painter donates RUR 450,000 to Russian fire victims.

MOSCOW, August 13 (Itar-Tass) -- Famous Chinese painter Yuan Xikun
donated 100,000 yuan (450,000 roubles) to Russian homeless fire victims, a
diplomatic source in the Chinese Embassy in Moscow said on Friday.
"Major forest fires have broken out recently in many Russian regions
that inflicted an enormous material damage and resulted in the death of
people. Yuan Xikun, who is concerned over the natural disaster in Russia,
addressed Chinese Embassy to Russia to make a 100,000-yuan personal
contribution in assistance to people affected in the forest fires in
Russia," the diplomatic source said.
The painter also sent a letter to Russian Ambassador to China Sergei
Razov, offering sympathy and support to the fire-affected people. Yuan
Xikun, who is the general director of the Beijing Arts Museum and an
honorary member of the Russian Academy of Arts, who has been engaged in
charity activities for many years, gave the material support to the
victims of natural disasters many times.
