Veep stresses importance of strengthening Iran-Sudan ties

Tehran, August 12, IRNA – 1st Vice-President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi said here Wednesday that Iran will remain Sudan's supporter, underlining strengthening of comprehensive ties to all extent is a dire necessity.

Rahimi make the statement on Wednesday night in a meeting with the Prime Minister of Sudan’s Khartoum Province Abdol-Rhaman al-Khezr.

“Sudan is one of Iran’s closest friends", Rahimi said, adding that “the Iranian Government and nation always get sad hearing the news on emerging unrests in Sudan.”

Pointing out that big powers are scared of revolutionary countries such as Iran and Sudan, Rahimi reiterated that “the global oppression system has always been trying to foment internal crises in countries that pursue independence to keep such countries weak and disable them in achieving real independence.”

For his part, the Sudanese official pointed out that the siege of Sudan and the imposed sanctions have left absolutely no tangible effect on the will of the Sudanese nation for pursing their campaign against the alien powers. He called for Iran’s continued support for Sudan until the country achieves a fully independent status.

Abdol-Rahman al-Khezr stressed that Sudan is determined to achieve independence emphatically, considering the strengthening of ties with Iran of significant importance in his nation’s pursuit of independence.

He said, “We also believe the expansion of economic relations would definitely lead to strengthening political ties.

Al-Kezr appreciated the presence of the Iranian firms that are making valuable investments in Sudan, calling for greater support on the part of the Iranian government./end
