RI, CUBA AGREE TO ENHANCE COOPERATION IN TECHNICAL TERMS
Jakarta, July 24 (ANTARA) - Indonesia and Cuba recently signed the agreed minutes of the fifth session of their Joint Commission in Havana which aim to turn their existing good ties in the political field into enhanced cooperation in technical terms.
As a manifestation of their close political ties, Indonesia and Cuba agreed to enhance cooperation in the fields of finance, sports, health, agriculture, education, tourism, information, energy and transportation, among others, the Indonesian embassy in Havana said in a statement issued on Thursday.
At the meeting, the two countries also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the formation of a framework for the development of business relations between the Indonesian National Agency for Export Development (BPEN) and the Cuban Center for International Trade Promotion (CEPEC).
The MoU was signed by Director General for American and European Affairs at the Indonesian Foreign Ministry Retno L.P. Marsudi and Deputy Cuban Minister of Investment and International Trade Ramon Ripoli Diaz in their respective capacities as chiefs of the two countries' delegations to the meeting.
Under the agreement, the two nations committed themselves to enhancing bilateral trade by exchanging information and experts and organizing trade exhibitions.
In addition, the meeting also discussed a protocol on an agreement the two governments had signed in the past to provide visa-free facilities to holders of diplomatic and service passports.
