Attack on Iran, end of US : Army official
Tehran, Aug 11, IRNA – Launching any attack on Iran, would be the end of the US, Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Hassan Firouzabadi said on Wednesday.
Firouzabadi made the remarks in a local gathering here while commenting on the latest statements made by the US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mike Mullen.
Speaking in an interview with the NBC channel on August 1, Mullen claimed that the US had a plan to attack Iran.
“Iran is ready since 10 years ago” to confront any possible attack although it has not taken Mullen’s words as a threat, said the military official.
He added that Mullen made the remarks to justify US public opinion and the country’s Congress about America’s extravagant budget for military affairs while the people are trapped in a worsening economic crisis.
Firouzabadi noted that the US could no more tolerate any heavy military costs and also was not strong enough to fight with Iran’s Basij (Volunteer) forces./end
