GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT AND CONSUMER PRICE INDEX

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Gross domestic product (at 2005 constant prices) increased by MNT 79.1 billion or 5.0 per cent to MNT 1,650.7 billion in the first half of 2010.
The increase was mainly due to increases in industry, construction, service sector and net tax on products. There was a MNT 28.0 billion or 9.5 per cent increase in value added of mining and quarrying sector (at 2005 constant prices), MNT 12.1 billion or 22.0 per cent increase in value added of manufacturing sector and 40.4 per cent increase in the amount of net taxes on products.
The national consumer price index in July, 2010, decreased by 2.8 per cent compared to the previous month, increased by 8.3 per cent compared to the end of the previous year and the same period of the previous year, respectively.
Decrease in national index compared to the previous month was mainly due to a 6.5 per cent decrease in food and non-alcoholic beverages.
