SAMT, EU discuss possibility of establishing cooperation program

(Saba) - The Supreme Authority for Monitoring Tenders (SAMT) and European Union (EU)
discussed
here on Sunday possibility of establishing joint cooperation program.
At their meeting, SAMT head Abdul-Malik al-Arashi and the EU food security official
talked about supporting the SAMT institutional capacity.
Al-Arashi reviewed the SAMT activities for protecting the public funds and
benefiting from the international loans and grants.
In return, the EU official expressed the Union's readiness to offer the technical
and financial support for SAMT within the supportive programs of the good
governance and
the economic sector funded by the EU.
He also pointed to the EU willingness to acquaint the donors with the authority and
its objectives in order to support its activities to carry out its future tasks.
The foundation of SAMT is considered an important step towards combating corruption
in fields of tenders, he said.
