Iran rejects Kuwait’s spying allegations

Tehran, Aug 9, IRNA – Minister of Information (Intelligence) Heidar Moslehi said Monday that Kuwait’s allegations about detaining a number of people on charges of spying for Iran were "a mere lie.”

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a cabinet session, the minister said Kuwaiti officials have, so far, presented no evidence to prove their claims.

Commenting on a report about an attempt to assassin President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the minister said as it was announced by the President the report indicated the depth of the weakness of the US intelligence system.

Asked about claims on the arrest of a number of people in northwest of Iran who were linked to the terrorist Rigi group, Moslehi said the group is not powerful enough to penetrate deep inside the Iranian territory.

During the past few years, the US-backed Rigi terrorist group carried out fatal operations against innocent people in Sistan and Baluchestan province in southeastern Iran./end
