NAT'L REPORT ON MILLENNIUM DEV'T GOALS INTRODUCED
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A ceremony ran Friday, August 6, to introduce the 3d national report on realization of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Present were Mr. Ajay Chhibber, the UN Assistant Secretary-General, Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific; G.Zandanshatar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia; Ch.Khashchuluun, head of the Committee of National Development and Reform; and D.Tsogtbaatar, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A letter from Mongolia's President was sounded at the beginning of the event. Following it, representatives of Bangladesh, Vietnam, Laos and China held a seminar and delivered reports stating that Mongolia "reduced its poverty rate by only 1.4 per cent in the 14-year period and this is not a satisfactory indicator".
In addition to it, the reports conclude that, for Mongolia it is difficult to fully implement the goals of the Millennium Development by the year 2015 although there are achievements in the implementation course against the previous reports the period 2007-2008 nationwide. The reports also pointed out that it is of importance to promote participation of the state and private sector in realizing all the goals.
