OPENING CEREMONY OF INT'L MOUNTAIN BIKE TOURNAMENT
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ An opening ceremony ran Sunday on the Sukhbaatar Square for the "Mongolia Bike Challenge 2010" international competitions for mountain bike that will take place for the first time in Asia.
Co-organized by the “Mongolia Expeditions” LLC, Italia's Progetto Avventura Eventi Company, Mongolia's Federation of Adventure Sports and Cycling Tour, and Mongolia's State Committee of Physical Culture and Sports the international mountain bike competitions will be attended by 94 cyclists from Mongolia, the USA, Italy, Spain, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Austria, Australia, Czech Republic, Belgium and Chinese Hong Kong.
During the opening ceremony, the participants paid a tribute to the monument of Chingis Khaan. Then, a Minister of Environment and Tourism Mr.Gansukh gave a speech. Warm wishes were sounded by Ch.Naranbaatar, a head of the State Committee of Physical Culture and Sports, and J.Ganbold, a head of Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the City's Administration.
The ten-round events will take ten days to cover 1,400 km off-road way through Dundgobi, Omnogobi, Bayankhongor, Arkhangai and Ovorkhangai aimags. Winners will be selected in six age categories.
Many foreign organizations and companies and Mongolia's “Bodi Daatgal” company are sponsoring the tournament, besides, the “C1” and “NTV” commercial TVs will air them.
The prize fund has EUR 15,000, and the winner will receive the Golden Cup costing EUR 5,000.
