Al-Arhabi meets with JICA`s official

SANA'A, Aug.07 (Saba)- Minister of Planning and
International Cooperation Abdul Karim al-Arhabi met on Saturday with Deputy Chairman
of
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Al-Arhabi welcomed the Japanese official in his first visit to Yemen, noting to the
growing development witnessed by bilateral relations between Yemen and Japan.
He praised the contributions of JICA to support the development process in Yemen,
appreciating the JICA's initiative to open its representation office in Yemen
within the
mutual keenness to develop areas of bilateral cooperation between Yemen and the Agency.
In the meeting, the two sides reviewed issues relating to the implementation of
JICA-funded projects in Yemen and plans of future support.
For his part, the Japanese official affirmed the Agency's keenness to continue to
offer all aspects of support to Yemen, pointing to the level of the existing
cooperation
between Yemen and JICA.
The size of Japanese assistance to Yemen has increased during the period from April
2009 to March 2010 to USD 47 million, two times more than the previous fiscal year.
