Pakistan Army Chief briefs ruling four-party coalition government heads on overall security situation in the country
Islamabad, July 24 PPI: Pakistan's Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani Wednesday briefed heads and top leaders of ruling four-party coalition government at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on overall security situation in the country and measures taken so far to bring peace.
The meeting which lasted for over eight hours discussed overall political and lawand order situation in the country.
Ruling Peoples Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, Pakistan Muslim League-N President Shahbaz Sharif, Jamiat Ulema Islam JUI(F) Chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman, Awami National Party President Asfandyar Wali Khan, North West Frontier Province NWFP Governor Awais Ahmad Ghani & Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti, National Assembly members from Federally Administered Tribal Areas FATA and senior officialsattended the meeting.
The participants were also briefed on law and order situation in NWFP and FATA which have witnessed increased activities of militants in recent past following which armywas called in to restore peace.
