Tatarstan begins meat production for Moscow

KAZAN, August 7 (Itar-Tass) - The association of farmers and household
producers of Tatarstan developed a project on meat production for Moscow,
the association's president Kamiyar Baitemirov said.
He noted that the sales will be conducted through commercial
partnership between Tatarstan's farmers and Moscow's large-scale meat
packing plants.
The first contract on joint activities has already been signed with
one of the capital's meat-packing plant, Baitemirov said without naming
the enterprise.
The republic will supply pork, mutton and beef to the capital.
A feed yard will be located in Verkhneuslonsky district of Tatarstan.
At first, the cattle number will reach 3,000 pigs and 1,000 sheep.
Household producers will get several hundreds of calves to feed.
The young stock will be bought on a parity basis - 50 percent will be
paid by Tatarstan's farmers and another 50 percent - by Moscow's meat
packing plants.
If the pilot project proves successful, other regions of Tatarstan
will join, the republic's Tatar-inform news agency said.
