Altai Krai, France`s Franche-Comte to set up cheese-making school.

BARNAUL, August 7 (Itar-Tass) - Russia's Altai territory and France's
Franche-Comte will set up a cheese-making school in Barnaul, the regional
administration told Itar-Tass.
The Altai territory's governor, Alexander Karlin, and the president of
the regional council of the French province, Marie-Marguerite Dufay, will
sign the founding documents and a partnership agreement in October.
This school will train future cheese makers, conduct research and
introduce the newest technologies.
"A cheese-making school is a unique scientific and educational
organization that should bring together progressive experience of
milk-processing and cheese-making accumulated in Franche-Comte and the
Altai Territory," the head of the regional administration's legal
department, Yelena Zinkova, said.
French partners will supply equipment for the school and provide
pedagogical support.
Last year the Altai territory's cheese makers produced 69,000 tonnes
of cheese -25 percent of Russia's total cheese output. Among most popular
cheeses made in the Altai territory are "Swiss", "Altai", "Soviet" and
"Gorny"(Highland).
Franche-Comte's trademark is Comte cheese exclusively made from milk
of Montbeliarde cows.
