Two missiles launched from sub in Arctic to hit Kura testing ground.
MOSCOW, August 7 (Itar-Tass) - Two intercontinental missiles were
launched from the nuclear-powered submarine Tula of the Northern Fleet in
the Barents Sea on Friday to hit a designated area in the Kura testing
ground on the Kamchatka Peninsula on Russia's Pacific coast, the Defence
Ministry's spokesman, Colonel Alexei Kuznetsov, told Itar-Tass.
"The launch was conducted from an underwater position as a part of
combat training to test the reliability of the marine strategic nuclear
forces," he said. "Missile units reached the testing ground in the
estimated time."
