Police sacked and suspended

A Victoria Police officer has been sacked and another suspended following
investigations by the force's Ethical Standards Department.
A leading senior constable from a station in Melbourne's west was dismissed on
Friday following an internal discipline hearing for disgraceful conduct, a statement
from Victoria Police said.
A spokeswoman said the hearing arose from an incident in 2002.
But the matter was not dealt with until recently as the officer had faced court over
another unrelated matter, of which the member was acquitted.
In a second investigation, a leading senior constable based in Victoria's western
region has been charged on summons with two counts of misconduct in public office,
attempting to pervert the course of justice and unlawful assault.
The constable has been suspended from duty and will appear at a magistrates court
later this month.
