Mottaki comments on Zionist regime attack on southern Lebanon

Tehran, Aug 4, IRNA – Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said the UNIFIL and its commanders have to explain the reasons for their deployment in southern lebanon.

The foreign minister made the remarks here Wednesday while addressing an expert meeting on the issue of the Islamic human rights and the human dignity.

He said the United Nations forces in southern Lebanon should explain why they are unable to hinder such atrocities by the Zionist regime because then the Lebanese army and nation as well as the resistance groups will be able to make their own decisions.

Noting that the United Nations Security Council held an emergency meeting immediately after the Zionist regime attack on southern Lebanon, he said as is the trend with the UNSC to hold international sessions at junctures where they think Israel is facing a critical situation, this meeting was an evidence that the Zionist regime was in real trouble.

Referring to the support of the US Congress for the Zionist regime attack on Iran, he said Israel has long been dead but they want to make other believe there are still signs of life in it.

Mottaki said the US Congress embarks on approving such plans simply because it is unable of offering any solutions to the problems in the US and thus is busy doing nothing so it starts working on such plans.

He thought it is funny for the congress in a country to make laws to allow the Zionist regime to attack a country in the Middle East.

He said West’s human rights and democracy record was so weak and unworthy of defense that they have no way but to cloud the issues./end
