Businessman says, wall of customs should be dismantled

Tehran, Aug 4, IRNA - An Iranian businessman residing in Turkey says Iran should remove the wall of customs so that its products will have a better marketing overseas.

Speaking to IRNA on the sidelines of the Conference of Iranian Expatriates here at Tehran Summit Conference Hall (August 2-5), Saif Ali Ansari said Iran should give importance to packaging and producing export-oriented products.

He said so doing, it will be relieved of dependence on oil exports.

He added that Iran should also attach importance to tourism.

Asked to comment on Iran nuclear rights, Ansari said Iran needs energy in the future. "The energy should be used for peace and friendship. All Iranians will in that case defend it. We need the energy in the future," he added.

The meeting of Iranian expatriates opened here at Tehran Summit Conference Hall on Monday, featured by inaugural speech of Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

After his speech to the audience, the President formally opened a foreign exchange fund for Iranian expatriates. The account to the value of 2,000 dollars was in the name of a little girl, named Melika.

The measure came after Iranians residing abroad had called for pouring part of their investment in Iran.

Iranians can start making investments on Tuesday.

Mottaki in his opening speech to the conference called for providing more services to Iranian expatriates.

Some 1,500 Iranian expatriates as well as high-ranking officials took part in the conference, that is sponsored by the High Council of the Overseas Iranians’ Affairs.
