Oman calls for fostering defense ties with Iran

Tehran, Aug 4, IRNA – Oman’s Sultan Qaboos bin Said called for fostering Iran-Oman defense cooperation in a meeting with visiting Iran's defense minister.
In the meeting Sultan Qaboos underlined the need to develop research and scientific cooperation between the Islamic states. He also underlined that convergence between the regional countries will prepare the ground for overcoming the regional crisis and solving the problems of the world of Islam.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Minister of Defense and the Armed Forces Logistics Brigadier-General Ahmad Vahidi appreciated Sultan Qaboos’s support for expansion of Tehran-Muscat relations, the defense cooperation in particular.
About regional security, Vahidi said the countries in the Middle East region have considerable potentials for securing their own stability.
On Israel’s Iranophobia project, the defense minister referred to Iran’s cordial ties with the regional countries which means that the Israeli project was in vain.
General Vahidi departed for Oman Tuesday morning on a two-day official visit./end
