US unable to attack powerful Iran: Army commander

Tehran, Aug 4, IRNA – Commander of Iran's Army Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan said on Wednesday that the US is unable to attack the powerful Islamic Iran.

Talking to IRNA, he lashed out at remarks made by Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen saying on Sunday that the US had drawn up the military plan to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons.

Referring to the US failures in Iraq and Afghanistan, he said Washington has not the capability to start a war with the powerful Islamic Republic of Iran.

The US officials’ military threat against Tehran is not a new phenomenon, he said, adding, “We are certain that the US forces are currently in a critical military state.”

The Iranian forces are in full readiness to confront the enemy on ground, in the air and in the sea in case of any probable attack against the Iranian territory, the commander reiterated.

The Army's Ground Force enjoy a high combat and defensive readiness and any attack against the country can be faced with a crushing response, Brigadier General Pourdastan stressed./end
