TAIWAN NEEDS INDONESIAN LANGUAGE TEACHERS

Taipei, July 23 (ANTARA) - Taiwan needs Indonesian language teachers who are able to speak Mandarin in an effort to increase mutual understanding between the two nations, a Taiwanese professor said.

"We need Indonesian language teachers in order to bridge our two nations' cultures and to understand Indonesia better," Taiwanese academician Prof. Nabil Chang-Kuan Lin said here on Wednesday.

Chang Kuan Lin, professor of National Chengchi University (NCCU), said that the Taiwanese people would understand better Indonesia's culture, religions and its workers if they understand the Indonesian language.

He said that the biggest number of visitors to Taiwan were Indonesians who came to Taiwan both for work and for studies. There are about 200,000 Indonesians --120,000 of them workers-- in Taiwan, he said.
