SPEAKER RECEIVES LAOTIAN DELEGATION

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Parliament Speaker received Tuesday a delegation headed by Mr. Khanpeng Vilapan, a deputy head of the Office of the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
Beginning the meeting, Mr. Demberel mentioned about a long-year historical tradition of the cooperation and emphasized an intensive development of the inter-parliamentary relations.
The Speaker said he had paid a visit to Laos in December of 2008 and underlined an important impact of many meetings of parliamentary authorities and members to development of the Mongolia-Laos cooperation.
Mr. Demberel noted that the protocol on the cooperation in 2007-2009 between parliamentary Offices of the two countries has been implementing successfully, and expressed a satisfaction with the sides' intention to amend this protocol.
In response, Mr. Khanpeng said he is satisfied with widening of the Mongolia-Laos cooperation, and expressed thanks to Mongolia for rendering assistance and support. He pointed out that the 60-bed Mongolia-Laos friendship hospital, which was established in 1984 with assistance from the government of Mongolia, has been expanded by 120 beds. He added that this hospital is suffering a shortage of some diagnostic facilities although it made a renovation in its equipment, and that four Mongolian doctors are working now at the hospital.
Mr. Khanpeng expressed a willingness to study experiences of the Office of the State Great Khural such as approving laws, giving professional and methodical recommendations and advice in implementation of legislation and controlling it. He expressed a hope that the parliamentary Office of Mongolia will support Laos in the above activities.
The Speaker said parliament of Mongolia wants to expand the inter-parliamentary relations and wished the delegation to have comfortable stay in Mongolia.
