VP STRESSES IMPORTANCE OF HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT
Jakarta, July 23 (ANTARA) - Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla said the yawning gap of income and technology between developed and developing countries had to do with the question of human resources development.
"The progress of a country depends on its people who run the government. Therefore, human resources development is very important," Kalla said at a function to open "The Asia HRD Congress 2008" here on Wednesday.
Hundreds of participants from various countries attended the congress.
The vice president also said the differences between developed and developing countries were caused by differences in culture, spirit, and educational development.
Kalla said even in overcoming the food crisis, devlopment of the human resources' capability was necessary as with good human resources the problem could be solved well.
Therefore, the vice president said, he would support all policies to develop human resources and encourage every country to share experience in the field.
Themed "Leading Human Capital, Leading Organization," The Asia HRD Congree 2008 featured some 47 domestic and overseas speakers.
The speakers were among others chief executive officer of ESQ Leadership Center Ary Ginanjar Agustian, PT Citra Investa Adidana president director Robby Djohan, and others from Singapore and the United States.
