NEWS FROM BAYANKHONGOR

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ An opening ceremony of a new care center for the disabled children has taken place in Bayankhongor aimag. Present were representatives of the Funds for Children of Japan and the Netherlands, authorities of the aimag and parents of these children.
The care center has been established at initiative of the parents of the disabled and with the money of MNT 97 million from the Netherland's Fund for Children, MNT 33 million from the province's budget, and MNT 7 million from a U.S citizen Michael Burton.
The center will care for and rehabilitate some 40 disabled children, in one turn, give advice to parents and guardians of the kids, and to improve knowledge and skills of looking after the disabled.
A union of parents with the disabled children was established in 2001 to help the disabled get connected with social life and to improve skills of their family members. As of present, 1,742 disabled children live in Bayankhongor aimag, of them 300 live in the aimag's center.
A construction of the new care center will be completed by September this year.
