Kuwaiti minister urges boost in ties with Iran

Kuwait City, July 23, IRNA Kuwaiti Interior Minister Jaber al-Khalid al Jaber al-Sabah on Tuesday called for further expansion of bilateral ties with the Islamic Republic.

In a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Kuwait Ali Jannati, he expressed his satisfaction with the current level of bilateralcooperation.

Welcoming boost in the two countries security cooperation, he calledfor further activation in mutual ties.

He said he would make greater efforts to settle the problems facingthe Iranian nationals residing in Kuwait.

Referring to historical relations between the two states, Jannati said Tehran considers the Kuwaiti security as its own.

Tehran believes in friendship and confidence building with allregional states, including Kuwait, the ambassador added.

Referring to security agreement singed between the two countries, heunderlined the need for materialization of the accord.

He stressed the importance of holding the next session of the two countries joint security commission and called for bilateralcooperation in the areas of combat against terrorism, organized crimes and different kinds of smuggling.

Jannati also called for settlement of problems of the Iraniansresiding in Kuwait.
