Workshop on ILO's KAB program held in Sana'a
SANA'A, Aug. 01(Saba)- A workshop was held Sunday here on the program of Know About Business (KAB) of the International Labor
Organization (ILO), with the aim of applying it in the technical and vocational institutes during the academic year ,2010-2011.
The workshop, organized by the Ministry of Technical Education and Vocational
Training in cooperation with the Small Enterprises Development Agency of the Social
Fund for
Development (SFD), aimed at introducing deans of vocational and technical institutes
to the functions and objectives of the program and mechanisms for implementing it in
the vocational and technical disciplines.
It also aims to create a culture of leadership and success and promoting awareness
among youth and introduce them to the importance of planning for small private
projects
and how to organize, operate and mange those projects.
At the workshop's opening, the Ministry's Undersecretary for Curricula and
Education Sector Abdul-Qadir al-Elbi affirmed the importance of the program and its
circulation
at all training institutions of the ministry to give the outputs of the technical
and vocational education the skills needed to create their own small projects.
For his part, Director of the KAB program, Ahmed Abdul Bari, reviewed objectives,
functions and advantages of the program and the announcement of its circulation at
the
technical and vocational education institutions.
He hinted that the program has made harmonization and consensus among the
instructors and students during the ministry's experimental phase to introduce the
program in three
educational institutions.
Moreover, Director-General of Curricula and Educational Aid at the ministry Ali
Taher reviewed a paper on the ministry's experience in introducing the KAB program
and the
results that have been achieved during this period.
The KAB program is an international program aims at helping young people to open
their own business and introduce them to concepts of leadership, project planning,
business
institutions and how to organize and operate them in various Arab and foreign
countries, including Yemen.
