PRESIDENT: BIZMEN MUST BE ABLE TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES

Jakarta, July 23 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said businessmen should not only seek but also be able to create opportunities.

President Yudhoyono made the remarks in his address to members of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs' Association (HIPMI) at the State Palace here on Tuesday.

"I want to invite all of you to create business opportunities. Businessmen are creators, rather than only seekers, of opportunities," the head of state said.

Present conditions made it possible for young businessmen to make innovations to create new opportunities, according to the president.

He expressed appreciation to young businessmen for their optimism despite the current difficult situation.

"Don't take a short cut. Prepare yourselves well, be tough, solve the problems, be courageous, work hard, be independent, be optimistic, and, God Willing, you will be successful," he said.

The ability to be optimistic is an important asset for businessmen, he said, adding they would surely succeed if they were optimistic since the beginning.

Businessmen who complained a lot and were pessimistic would not win in the current situation, he said.

Meanwhile, HIPMI Chairman Erwin Aksa on the occasion reported to the Presidents the results of the association's recent national congress.
