Save the Children launches campaign on getting birth certificates

SANA'A, July 31 (Saba)- Save the Children organization, in partnership with UNHCR, is to launch next Sunday a campaign on the birth certificates in two districts in Sana'a.

The campaign, which is under the title of " getting birth certificate is a right
for every child for free and a protection for children future", aims to raise the
awareness
of the Yemeni and non-Yemeni people in the communities to the importance of getting
the birth certificate as a right for every child and it is free.
The campaign targets mainly the Yemenis and refuges parents to advocate for the Law
statement of Ministries council No. 120 for 2006 that ensured that birth
certificate
is free for everyone.
The Protection Program specialist in Save the Children, Aisha Saeed, ensued on the
importance role of every member in the community Yemenis or refuges in increasing
the
awareness to get the birth certificate for children as a right to have a name and
nationality as the Child Right Convention states and as a tool of protection for
every children.
This campaign is the part of series activities of the birth registration project
done by Save the Children in which a previous campaign was implemented on January
2010 on
birth registration for children for free.
Save the Children has concluded on January 21 July 2010 a workshop on reducing the
violence in schools.
The workshop trained 28 teachers, parents' councils, local leaders on the
alternatives of violence.
The training targeted 26 participants from the national network for child
protection and some NGOs working in child protection.
Save the Children fights for children's rights, influences public opinion and
supports children at risk for a better world in which all children¿s rights are
respected.
