Iran more determined under sanctions: Malaysian politician

Kuala Lumpur, July 31, IRNA – Former foreign minister of Malaysia Syed Hamid Albar said Saturday that the anti-Iran sanctions were ineffective as it has made the country more determined in its efforts to defend its dignity and authority.
Speaking to IRNA in the Malaysian capital, Albar criticized Europe's latest move to impose new sanctions on Iran for its peaceful nucelar activities.
He noted that exerting santions against Iran was not the right solution to resolve the country’s nuclear dispute with the West.
Exerting more pressures and sanctions would just make the issue more complicated, said the Malaysian politician.
Referring to a tripartite agreement recently singed by Iran, Brazil and Turkey about Tehran's nuclear activities, Albar said that was a proper path which could lead to resolving the problem.
He stressed that Western states should have given more time to the agreement to show its positive effects.
But unfortunately, they have closed the diplomatic way to solve the problem with their latest unmeasured move, regretted the Malaysian politician.
The fact that the US has refused the tripartite agreement and imposed new sanctions on Iran has indicated that big powers, including the US, were not willing to solve disputes in a way which is against their own will, Albar concluded./end
