Tony Abbott wishes Kevin Rudd well
Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has wished Kevin Rudd a speedy recovery after the
former Labor prime minister was admitted to hospital for gall bladder surgery.
"Obviously it has been a very difficult time for Kevin Rudd," Mr Abbott told reporters.
"He has my best wishes for a speedy recovery."
Mr Abbott is in Alice Springs as the second week of the election campaign for the
August 21 poll comes to a close.
Mr Rudd was to undergo an operation to remove his gall bladder on Friday after
suffering acute stomach pain on Thursday while campaigning for his seat of Griffith.
He underwent a series of medical tests on Thursday night and Friday morning and on
specialist advice was admitted to the Mater Private Hospital about noon on Friday.
Mr Rudd's doctors have advised he is likely to be in hospital for a couple of days.
