High-speed Sapsan trains to run to Nizhni Novgorod.

MOSCOW, July 30 (Itar-Tass) -- High-speed Sapsan trains, which made
their maiden voyage from St. Petersburg to Moscow last December, are
scheduled to run to Nizhni Novgorod on the Volga on Friday, however raging
forest fires along the way may abort the plan.
The Russian Railways Company (RZD) warned on Thursday the fires may
bloc rail traffic to the southeast. RZD said it may introduce changes in
the schedules "to ensure the security of traffic and safety of passengers."
Earlier RZD said two Sapsan trains will service the St.
Petersburg-Moscow-Nizhni Novgorod route at the initial stage reducing
travel time from six to four hours.
The 442-kilometer track from Moscow to Nizhni Novgorod underwent a
major reconstruction worth 9.49 billion rubles for Sapsan to run.
