29/7 Tass 188

BISHKEK, July 29 (Itar-Tass) - The Secretariat of the Collective
Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) published a detailed report on the
assistance provided by the member-states to Kyrgyzstan, with the view of
stabilizing the situation there.
The assistance is provided in line with the collective measures of
response, aimed at stabilizing the situation, which the Secretaries of the
CSTO Security Councils worked out at the emergency consultations on June
14, 2010.
The CSTO member-states began to send relief supplies to Kyrgyzstan
after disturbances broke out in the republic on June 11, 2010.
Kazakhstan supplied to Kyrgyzstan 3,700 tons of diesel fuel for spring
sowing. Tajikistan sent truckloads of staple foods to the Kyrgyz armed
forces. Also, the Tajik committee for emergencies and defence sent 100
tons of flour, 30 tons of rice, 10 tons of macaroni, 10,000 litres of
vegetable oil, 10 tons of potatoes, 10 tons of onions and more than 10,000
litres of diesel fuel by road transport from the Gorno-Badakhshanskaya and
Zugdidi regions.
Russia extended a 20-million dollar grant to support the population,
and a 30-million-dollar easy-term credit of the Russian Agricultural Bank.
It also allocated 34 tons of medicines and equipment.
The Moscow government sent five ambulances and a mobile x-ray unit
mounted on Kamaz chassis. In January 2011, Russia will supply 1.5 tons of
seeds of elite plants at Kyrgyzstan's request.
Uzbekistan supplied to Kyrgyzstan 164,000 disposable syringes, more
than 43,000 bandage kits, as well as 15,000 and 10,000 infusions and
infusion solutions, respectively. Also, it sent to Kyrgyzstan 200 tons of
mineral fertilizers, 150 tons of construction materials, 30 tons of flour
and 20 tons of fuel and lubricants.
Meanwhile, commander of Russia's airborne troops Lt-Gen Vladimir
Shamanov said Russian paratroopers would guard the Russian military
facilities in Kyrgyzstan during the parliamentary elections set for
October 10, 2010.
"One hundred and twenty Russian paratroopers from the 104th regiment
of the 76th airborne troops division are performing special assignments in
Kyrgyzstan. Several days ago, Russia rotated the unit. Our tasks remain
the same: we're ensuring the safety of the Russian military facilities in
that republic," the General underlined.
"The situation in the zone of the assignments is stable. We'll
continue our mission to ensure the safety of the military facilities,
while taking into account the upcoming parliamentary elections in
Kyrgyzstan," Shamanov said.
