.Anomalous heat may become normal by 2070 - UN experts.
UN, July 29 (Itar-Tass) -- Anomalous heat may become normal by 2070,
United Nations Radio said referring to Russia's head of World Wildlife
Fund /WWF/ Alexei Kokorin on Wednesday.
"The heat in Russia is beating records, and its anomaly is that it is
too long," he said.
"The longest heat wave in Russia was registered in 1936, but it has
never happened so that such periods last over a month," the radio reported.
Scientists "cannot forecast when and how the number of such waves may
grow in future," Kokorin said.
Experts analysed the heat wave in France in 2003, which killed
thousands, and believe that such heat may become normal by 2070 if
greenhouse gases are not limited. WWF analysts say such phenomena may
become a norm earlier than in 2070.
In Russia, various dangerous hydro meteorological phenomena, like heat
or cold waves, become more frequent than earlier.
"Today, there is one dangerous hydro meteorological phenomenon a day
in Russia, but in 15 years they may double," the United Nations Radio
quoted Kokorin as saying.
.Privatbank bans its debtors to leave the country.
KIEV, July 29 (Itar-Tass) -- Almost 400 clients of Ukraine's
Privatbank will not be able to leave the country for their overdue loan
payments.
It was for the first time in Ukraine's judicial system that court made
a decision of the kind. The court decision will affect 397 clients who owe
over 10,000 hryvnas /about 1,250 dollars/, Ukraine's daily the Segodnya
said.
"The clients having overdue payments and the authorities responsible
for crossing the border will receive court notifications," the newspaper
said.
"Most debtors did not manage to make payments for car and mortgage
loans," Privatbank's head of press service Oleg Serga said. "The bank is
going to sue even those clients who owe 1,000 hryvnas /125 dollars/ for
their consumer loans, but did not make an attempt to settle the debt
within 90 days."
The restriction for trips abroad will be effective only if a client
goes to a country where it is necessary to present a foreign passport.
This means, that the only countries where such clients may go to are
Russia and Belarus.
Privatbank is a major financial institution in Ukraine. Its net profit
over the first six moths of the current year exceeded 630 million hryvnas
/about 78 million dollars/.
.About 100 new narcotic drugs variations appear every year - source.
MOSCOW, July 29 (Itar-Tass) -- About 100 new variations of narcotic
drugs appear globally every year, head of Russia's Federal Service for
control over drugs' turnover /FKSN/ Viktor Ivanov said.
"Syntheses are endless," he said. "Producers update production and
turnover of drugs; take for example the smoking mixes and other nasty
stuff."
In addition to the so-called traditional narcotics, there appear
medical substances, which become a big problem.
"They are called drug-store narcotics, which are extradited from
medicines containing codeine," he said, naming desomorphine as one of
those.
"This is Russia's biggest problem nowadays," Ivanov said. "Over this
year, we have confiscated by three times more desomorphine, than we did in
the previous year."
.Cocaine flow to Russia increases by 25 pct annually - source.
MOSCOW, July 29 (Itar-Tass) -- Supplies of cocaine to Russia grow by
about 25 percent each year, head of Russia's Federal Service for control
over drugs' turnover /FKSN/ Viktor Ivanov said.
"This is an average for the past three years," he said.
Cocaine from several South American countries is a major drug threat
along with cocaine from Afghanistan, he said.
"The drug mafia prefers new trans-continental routes using Western
Africa's regions," he said. "From there cocaine is transported both to
North America and to Europe, and, of course, they work out routes to
Russia, too."
