S.OYUN: SURGERY ROOM FOR INFANTS NEEDED

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Representing a parliament's minority--one from Green party, one independent candidate and one from the Civil Will party--a head of the latter S.Ouyn put forward a single suggestion and is trying to reflect it in the budget clarification.

"Our proposal is about opening a surgery ward at the Mother and Infant Center (MIC)," she says and has been persuading a Minister of Finance and the MPs into alloting 350 million togrog for erecting the ward.

"Only some years ago, aged 0-28 days newborn infants with needing a surgery cases stood at 30 per year, now this number has reached 150, and wnen a time comes they undergo surgery together with teenagers, in one ward. This situation must not exist further, everybody knows that the new babies are extremely prone to various infections, besides, statistics show that by a post-surgery mortality among newborn infants Mongolia ranks high in the world," she says.
