Kolkata, Jul 23 (PTI) Attacking Lok Sabha (L.S.) Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, C.P.I.(M) leader Biman Bose Tuesday questioned the justifiability of his continuing in office evenafter Left parties had withdrawan support to the U.P.A.
government.
"What is the justifiability of his continuing in office after withhdrawal of support to the U.P.A. government?" Bose,a C.P.I.(M) politburo member, said.
Asked to comment what action his party would take when the C.P.I.(M) Politburo was authorised to take a decision by the central committee, Bose did not make a direct reply but said "the moment we withdrew support to the U.P.A. government, the premise that worked earlier, turned redundant." He said that generally the Speaker was elected from the government and not from supporting opposition parties in theLok Sabha.
The suggestion to fill the post was made by U.P.A. to Left parties to fill the post during formation of the government, he said. PTI PKC
