SPEAKER MEETS MR. SUZUKI

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Parliament Speaker D.Demberel has received Mr. Suzuki Muneo, a member of the Representatives' House of Japanese parliament and head of the Standing committee on security and foreign policy who is paying a visit to Mongolia.
Beginning the meeting, the Speaker thanked Mr. Suzuki for significant contribution to developing the bilateral relations and assistance for Mongolians. The Speaker underlined that Japan has been the main donor country for forming the democracy and market society in Mongolia, and mentioned that parliament of Mongolia has established a legal basis of putting the biggest mineral deposits into economic circulation for economic development. Mr. Demberel pointed out that Mongolia is facing important matters to be tackled in exploiting mineral deposits and boosting infrastructure, and that Mongolia needs the Japanese investments and use of the Japanese latest techniques and technologies in constructing railways, auto roads, coal processing factories and in exploiting uranium.
The Speaker emphasized an importance of parliaments of the two countries in forwarding the relations and cooperation, and expressed a willingness to regularize mutual meetings and visits between parliamentary factions and MPs.
In his turn, Mr. Suzuki expressed his satisfaction with a successful development of the bilateral relations based on comprehensive partnership principles, and with attending measures of the 20th anniversary of the first free democratic election of Mongolia.
Mr. Suzuki said many companies and enterprisers of Japan want to develop cooperation and make investments to Mongolia's uranium sector and to the Tavan tolgoi deposit. Then he requested the Speaker to support them in realizing this willingness.
Mr. Suzuki said he wants to widen the ties between parliaments of the countries and that he will speak his views on the issues to the Japanese parliamentary leaders and officials of the Standing committees and factions. He thanked the Mongolian side for a decision to free the Japanese from the entry visa for 90 days in visiting Mongolia, and expressed a confidence that an upcoming state visit of Mongolia's President Ts.Elbegdorj to Japan will open a new chapter in the history of the Mongolia-Japan relations.
At the end of the meeting, the Speaker requested Mr. Suzuki to convey his invitations to the Speakers of the two Houses of Japanese parliament.
Mr. Suzuki expressed special thanks to Z.Enkhbold, a head of the Standing committee on security and foreign policy and to D.Gankhuyag, a head of Mongolia-Japan parliamentary group for making the visiting program in Mongolia and for active works for development of the inter-parliamentary ties.
