Senior Iranian MP warns EU

Tehran, July 25, IRNA – Iran will reconsider its cooperation with the European Union states if they decided to follow US policy of intensifying sanctions against the country, a senior member of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) said on Sunday.

Head of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi made the remarks reacting to the recent move by the European Union’s 27 members who drafted new sanctions against Iran to present them to the EU foreign ministers on Monday.

Failing to adopt an independent policy towards Iran to be different from that of the US, the EU has always been a follower of the US policy against the country,” Boroujerdi told IRNA.

He stressed that the EU “will naturally lose a vast part of its economic cooperation with Iran if it embarks on the new phase of sanctioning the country.”/end
