SOCAR-TURCAS GETS LICENSE TO BUILD REFINERY IN TURKEY
Baku, July 24 (AzerTAc). Ankara hosted Friday a ceremony to grant a license to SOCAR-TURCAS Joint Venture to build a new refinery in Izmir province of Turkey. The license was granted by the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) granted.
Addressing the event SOCAR-TURCAS Executive Manager and member of Petkim Board of Directors Kenan Yavuz said the new facility will be built in the area of petrochemical complex Petkim in Aliaga district.
He noted the construction of the plant would involve about 10,000 people. He added the facility will employ about 1,000 people when it starts to operate.
Turkish minister of energy and natural resources Taner Yıldız told of the relationship between Azerbaijan and Turkey.
He said Azerbaijan plays an important role in energy security of Europe.
Then, Yıldız presented the license to SOCAR president Rovnag Abdullayev.
