Man arrested after woman knocked out

Police have charged a man with assault after a 76-year-old woman was bashed
unconscious as she dined in a Ballarat restaurant on Wednesday.
Police say the man knocked the woman out when he hit her in the head, then continued
his attack as she lay on the floor.
Police say he then turned his fury on a 59-year-old man.
The man, 41, from Ringwood, was arrested at the restaurant and charged with two
counts of recklessly causing injury, unlawful assault and one count each of
recklessly causing serious injury and assault by kicking.
He was bailed to appear at the Ballarat Magistrates Court on August 23.
The injured woman remains in hospital in Ballarat.
