UK`s ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA TO JOIN GABALA FESTIVAL

Baku, July 23 (AzerTAc). United Kingdom`s Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will perform at this year`s Gabala International Music Festival in Azerbaijan, due to take place from 24th July until 6th August. The Orchestra will be joined by internationally renowned artists including, Yuri Bashmet, Boris Berezovsky, Chloë Hanslip, the Ysaÿe Quartet and jazz singer Al Jarreau. Conducted by the Festival`s Directors, Dmitry Yablonsky and Farhad Badalbeyli, the Orchestra will perform traditional classical repertoire in addition to works by Azerbaijani composers Uzeyir Hajibayov and Fikrat Amirov.
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra opens their visit with a concert in the country`s capital Baku with a performance in the Old City, before taking the stage at the festival performing works by Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saëns, Rachmaninov and Beethoven.
In addition to the orchestral series, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra`s education team will develop a series of workshops for 30 young people living in a local orphanage from Mardakan, Baku. Participants from the orphanage`s youth orchestra will have the opportunity to develop many different types of musical skills with the focus on original composition, improvisation and cross-cultural and cross-genre learning; all led by Tim Steiner whose vast experience makes him a chief exponent in this area.
Yablonsky who is the festival`s director said: “The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is known to the musicians from all over the world, all those famous stories of Thomas Beecham, who had such a great sense of humor.”

helped the festival to closely work together with the British Council helping 30 very talented young musicians from an orphanage in Baku.”

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra`s visit will be organized by the British Council in Azerbaijan.
