AZERBAIJAN`S NATIONAL PRESS DAY MARKED IN TBILISI
Tbilisi, July 22 (AzerTAc). An event to mark the 135th anniversary of Azerbaijan`s national press has been organized in Tbilisi with support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
Opening the event, ambassador Namig Aliyev briefed the participants on the history of Azerbaijan`s national press.
The diplomat also touched upon national leader Heydar Aliyev`s care for the national press and journalism.
The ambassador said President Ilham Aliyev continues the national leader`s policy to protect freedom of speech and strengthen state support for mass media. He added the fact that President Ilham Aliyev had signed a special Order on the 135th anniversary of Azerbaijan`s national press which is evidence to that.
Other speakers in the event congratulated the Azerbaijani journalists on the National Press Day.
