MWL Chief thanks King for sponsoring World Conference on
Makkah, July 22, SPA -- Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulmohsin Al-Turki, the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL) has thanked and expressed appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud on behalf of the League and all participants of the World Conference on Dialogue for sponsoring the conference, which concluded its three-day works in Madrid on July 18,2008 under the auspices of the MWL.
DR Al-Turki made these remarks in a cable he sent to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques on the occasion of the closing of the World Conference on Dialogue, held under the King's patronage and with theattendance of King Juan Carlos of Spain.
Dr Al-Turki said the conference's participants have decided to adopt the speech of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz as a key document and a major foundation for dialogue and global understanding, which willachieve cooperation among peoples of the world.
Dr. Al-Turki also conveyed the participants' adoration of theKingdom of Saudi Arabia and its moderate international policy.
He also affirmed that the participants noted the reputation and prestige of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the eye of the world, andits leading role in international organizations and human relations.
"The participants called on the United Nations General Assembly to endorse the results of the Conference and benefit from its findings in pushing ahead the dialogue between religions, civilizations and cultures through a special session on the dialogue." Dr Al-Turki requested the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to do the needful in convening such a session by the General Assembly atthe earliest opportunity.
Meanwhile, Dr Al-Turki also sent a similar cable of thanks and appreciation to the Vice Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz in which he also urged him to request to King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to convene such a special session of theGeneral Assembly in this context.
Dr Al-Turki's cables were attached with the full texts of the MadridDeclaration.
