FOREIGN MINISTER LEAVES FOR VIETNAM
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Foreign Minister of Mongolia G.Zandanshatar left Wednesday for Vietnam to take part in the 17th Ministerial meeting of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) to be held July 22-23 in Hanoi city, Vietnam.
The meeting will bring together 27 countries-participants of the ARF, including the ASEAN members such as Brunei, Vietnam, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines, the partner of the ASEAN--Australia, the USA, the Republic of Korea, China, India, Canada, Russia, New Zealand, Japan and the European Union (EU); the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, the DPRK, Mongolia, Pakistan, Papua and New Guinea, Timor Leste and Sri-Lanka; and Secretaries-General of the ASEAN.
The ARF which started its actions in 1994 is the only structure for carrying out multi-lateral talks on politics and security in Asia-Pacific region. Mongolia joined the ARF in 1998 doing its important step focusing on realizing the policy of uniting the multilateral actions and integration in Asia and Pacific. Moreover, the ARF is very important for Mongolia to get the scent of the regional safety environment and to protect the national security.
At the upcoming meeting, the Foreign Ministers of countries will discuss results of works done in frames of the ARF and regional and international present situation. They also will endorse a working plan of works to be done in 2011.
The Mongolian delegation will express the governmental position at the meeting on the regional and international security including the security of Northeast Asia, further guideline of the ARF's actions. The Mongolians will also meet with representatives of Japan, the EU and Vietnam to share views on bilateral ties and other matters.
