STEINBERG GOT ACQUINTED WITH MOBILE HOSPITAL


Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ In frames of his visit to Mongolia, a Deputy Secretary James Steinberg got acquainted with a field mobile hospital. Consisting of doctors, the hospital will be deployed to UN military base in Kabkabiya, Sudan.
Second level medical service hospital comprises reception unit, surgical department, intensive care unit, ambulance, dental department, and pharmacy. It will serve the UN troops, policemen, observers, UN volunteers, and locals who populate a zone of responsibility. The doctors say the hospital has a reserve to treat 1,500-2,000 patients a week and to perform surgery for four persons a day.
Equipment to be used is accorded with the UN standards and is 100-percent invested by the USA. Some 40 percent of the doctors have experience in such a service. It is expected that respiratory diseases, malaria, infectious diarrhea, tuberculosis and meningitis will prevail in Sudan.
The field mobile hospital works during natural disasters, industrial accidents, highly infectious diseases, in the UN peacekeeping operations and international humanity post-disaster reconstruction.
The hospital staff are 60 officers and other professionals.
