TOKYO, July 20 (Itar-Tass) -- The Association of South East Asian
Nations (ASEAN) decided to involve Russia and the United States in East
Asia summits starting from 2011. The foreign ministers of this regional
organization came to the agreement at a working meeting in Hanoi,
diplomatic sources reported on Tuesday.
The foreign ministers are expected to agree on technical aspects to
involve Russia and the United States in East Asia summits in the
Vietnamese capital on Tuesday. An ASEAN summit will take an official
decision to this effect in October, Kyodo News Agency reported on Tuesday.
The first East Asia summit was held in Malaysia in 2005. Sixteen
countries, including 10 ASEAN members, China, Japan, South Korea, India,
Australia and New Zealand initiated the summit. The main goal of the forum
is accelerated integration of East Asia as the most dynamically developing
