NUMBER OF BIRTHS DECREASES
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ In the first half of 2010, the number of live births decreased by 500 to 33,566, whereas the number of mothers delivered children decreased by 520 or 1.5 per cent to 33,429 compared to the same period of the previous year.
According to Ministry of Health, births per 1,000 people was 12.2, the deaths per 1,000 people was 3.2, and the natural increase per 1,000 people stood at 9.0 in the first half of 2010.
During that time, an infant mortality increased 8 or 1.1 per cent to 710, child mortality aged 1-5 increased by 89 to 190. The number of maternal deaths decreased by 9 to 15 against the same period of the previous year.
