Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ In the first half of 2010, 10.2 million heads of livestock gave birth at the beginning of the year. This number is equal to 53.7 per cent of total breeding stock.
In the first half of this year, survival of young animals stood at 7,270.4 thousand heads which is equal to 71.1 per cent of the young animals born, with a decrease by 6,348.2 thousand heads or 46.6 per cent against the previous year. At the national level, 9,726.6 thousand adult animals were lost at beginning of the year equalling to 22.1 per cent of a total number.
Out of the losses of adult animals, 12.8 thousand heads were camels, 338.2 thousand--horses, 550.1 thousand--cows, 4,053.4 thousand--sheep and 4,772.0 thousand heads--goats. Out of the losses of adult animals, 49.1 per cent were goats.
